Published Oct 2, 2026 · via NotiCel

San Lorenzo Mayor Jaime Alverio Ramos reported a 53% reduction in the monthly average of Type I crimes during the first two months of the Drone as First Responder (DFR) program. The program integrates a first-response drone and cameras with license plate reading technology to support the Municipal Police's surveillance, prevention, and response efforts. Between January and July 2026, 105 Type I crimes were registered, with a monthly average of 15.

In August and September, the first two months of the program, 14 crimes were reported, equivalent to a monthly average of seven. Mayor Alverio Ramos attributed the reduction to the program, stating that the numbers speak for themselves and that the municipality is putting technology at the service of its police and citizens to prevent crime and respond more quickly. The DFR program is part of the municipality's technological strategy to modernize police operations.
