San Juan municipal police investigated an incident that led to charges being filed by the prosecution against Benjamín Mojica Cruz, 34, for the crime of mistreating an elderly person through threats. On October 3, at 4:30 PM, in Barrio Obrero, Santurce, Mojica Cruz questioned his 60-year-old neighbor about trash beside her residence. He then threw the trash into her home and, after she warned him to be careful with her dog, he threatened to kill her.

Judge Dayra Zoet Infante Bosques of the San Juan Tribunal determined there was probable cause for arrest and set a $5,000 bond, which Mojica Cruz posted and was released until the preliminary hearing.
