In Bayamón, Puerto Rico, a 58-year-old man, José I. Reyes Marrero, was imprisoned after being charged with domestic abuse and spousal sexual assault under Law 54 for the Prevention and Intervention of Domestic Violence. According to the investigation, on October 15, 2026, Reyes Marrero allegedly grabbed the victim by the shoulder and pushed her, then dragged her by the shirt and across the floor when she refused to get out of bed, all while insulting her.
The prosecution presented the charges to Judge Miriam M. Stefan of the Bayamón Court, who found probable cause for arrest and set a $50,000 bond, which Reyes Marrero did not post. Reyes Marrero was booked and imprisoned at the Bayamón Correctional Complex’s Institution 705. The preliminary hearing was scheduled for a later date.
The investigation was led by Agent Luis O. Galarza Hernández of the Bayamón Criminal Investigations Corps’ (CIC) Gender Violence Division. Reyes Marrero’s imprisonment follows an incident that occurred in Bayamón, where the Police reported the charges against him.
