The Intercultural Book Fair of Río Piedras (FIL RÍO 2026) will run from November 16 to 19, 2026, at the University of Puerto Rico’s Río Piedras campus and in the urban center of Río Piedras. Over four days, the fair will bring together writers, academics, students, artists, publishers, booksellers and communities from Puerto Rico and abroad, with more than 30 bookstores and independent publishers, 35 Puerto Rican authors and over 15 international guests from Spain, Colombia, Mexico, Peru, Chile, indigenous communities and the Puerto Rican diaspora in the United States.
Programming includes book presentations, discussions, workshops, film, exhibitions and artistic activities at the Centro Universitario, the José M. Lázaro Library, the Faculty of Education and other sites in the urban center. The opening on Monday, November 16, at 10:00 AM features writer Ana Lydia Vega’s lecture 'De la inmortalidad y otros mitos literarios’, followed by presentations of 'Agua, sol y sereno', a tribute to Tite Curet, and 'Plena Pal Pueblo'.
This edition is dedicated to the late professor Juan Antonio Torres Martínez and student Elvis Ríos Resto. Interim chancellor Mayra B. Charriez Cordero said the fair reflects the campus’s commitment to academic excellence and intercultural dialogue. A new feature, the Ecological Pavilion, will integrate science, education, literature and community action around sustainability and environmental awareness.
