Two men were gravely injured in separate motorcycle crashes in Puerto Rico: one in Toa Baja on Sunday night and another in Lajas in the early hours of Monday, October 19, authorities reported. In Lajas, officers from the Puerto Rico Police Bureau’s Mayagüez Highway Patrol Division investigated a serious crash reported through the 9-1-1 Emergency System at 12:20 AM at kilometer 1.1 of PR-116, at the intersection with PR-122.

According to preliminary information, Fabián Torres Babilonia was driving a black 2025 Zhejiang R4 motorcycle when he lost control and fell to the pavement, suffering multiple traumas to different parts of his body. He was taken by ambulance to Hospital La Concepción in San Germán, where his condition was described as delicate. Agent Henry Vega took charge of the investigation, and prosecutor Antonio Cintrón ordered the motorcycle seized and moved to the Mayagüez Highway Patrol Division.

In the other crash, on PR-867 at kilometer 3.5 in Toa Baja on Sunday night, the driver of a 2019 Toyota Tacoma made an improper turn into the lane where Orlando Guzmán Rivera, 26, was riding a 2024 Suzuki DR-Z400 motorcycle. Guzmán Rivera lost control of the handlebars, struck the truck, was ejected and suffered grave injuries.

Paramedics treated him and took him to a hospital in the area, where the physician on duty listed him in critical condition. The Tacoma’s driver took a breathalyzer test, which came back 0.00%.
