Lawyer Luis Quiñones, known as Passi, was shot dead around 10:45 AM on Friday while driving his white RAM pickup along Las Américas avenue in Ponce, confirmed Félix Guilbe, director of the Homicide Division of the Ponce police region. A call to the 9-1-1 Emergency System alerted authorities. Guilbe told Primera Hora that Quiñones handled criminal cases in Ponce and was well known.
According to the police report, Quiñones was traveling when another vehicle approached him and fired shots at him. Police will not release a description of the vehicle possibly involved. Images from the scene show the driver’s side window with 11 bullet holes, and Quiñones swerving onto a green area at an intersection.
He was transported in a private vehicle to a hospital in the area, where he received medical attention and died while being treated. Guilbe said the motive for the killing could not be determined because the investigation has just begun. The Ponce Homicide Division is investigating.
