A 32-year-old woman identified as Ashley Cristal Arroyo Maldonado died in a traffic accident reported at about 1:40 AM. Sunday on Calle 4 in the Parcelas Macana sector of Guayanilla, Puerto Rico. Police initially reported the crash involved a motorcycle, but a later report clarified that Arroyo Maldonado was driving a gray 2023 Mitsubishi Outlander Sport.
According to the preliminary investigation, the driver, a Guayanilla resident, was traveling eastbound at a speed above the legal limit. In front of residence #77, she lost control of the steering wheel, veered left, and struck a concrete fence with the front of the car. The strong impact caused severe injuries that killed her instantly.
The report did not specify whether anyone was with her in the vehicle. Highway Patrol Division agent Edwin Cales Pacheco, assigned to the Ponce area, is investigating the accident along with prosecutor Jennifer Ortiz Rivera.
