LUMA Energy, the consortium in charge of Puerto Rico’s electrical transmission and distribution system, will carry out scheduled work on Monday, November 2, that will interrupt electric service in eight towns around the island. The company announced in a written statement that the work includes the replacement and repair of electrical lines, as well as the installation of automated devices.
In all cases the outages will last several hours. The affected towns are San Germán, Guaynabo, Aibonito, Mayagüez, Gurabo, Río Grande, San Juan and Carolina. In the statement, LUMA acknowledged that planned improvements can cause temporary inconvenience but said they are necessary to guarantee the stability and reliability of the system in the long term, and it thanked customers for their patience and understanding as the scheduled maintenance continues.
