Daddy Yankee held an intimate, exclusive watch party with fans at the Cuartel de Ballajá in Old San Juan on Tuesday night for the world premiere of "La Postal: Written in the Dance", a miniseries inspired by his new album, which was released on October 30. "Thank you so much to my land, the isla del encanto. I’m proud to represent my boricua roots," the reggaetonero told the crowd, adding that the project was filmed in Puerto Rico.
The event became a small party where attendees enjoyed reggaeton classics from "Gasolina" to his new song "Pokito" with Diljit Dosanjh, which already has more than 28 million YouTube plays. Fans worldwide followed via a YouTube Live broadcast. When the lights went out, the microdrama, mostly in English, was projected on the facade of the landmark cultural building, after which dancers staged a break-dance battle inspired by the series’ plot.
The project is a collaboration with vertical content studio aTwist and Visa; aTwist will offer exclusive content, including behind-the-scenes footage and an interview with the artist. The production tells a story of love and reunions through a high-stakes dance competition, highlighting Puerto Rican culture and music. Emmy-winning choreographer Karina Ortiz led the choreography, and the microseries is now available on YouTube.
