The Gigantes de Carolina team of the Women’s Superior Basketball National League (BSNF), in collaboration with Clínica Urovida, will hold the initiative "Gigantes con Bigotes: Jugando por ellos" to promote prostate cancer prevention and raise awareness of men’s health. This Saturday, November 7, during the first game of the playoff series, when the Gigantes host their opponents at the Coliseo Guillermo Angulo in Carolina, a free prevention clinic will be offered to the public.
The activation runs from 6:30 PM to 8:00 PM and will feature Dr. Vincent Rodríguez Bury and his team, offering screening services and preventive guidance. Team owner Claudia Ramos Zorrilla, who is married to Dr. Rodríguez Bury, said the team is committed to changing the game in the community by integrating sport, education and health, calling it a family matter for the city of Carolina.
Under the motto "La prevención no tiene género," the initiative aims to motivate men to care for their health. In Puerto Rico, prostate cancer is the cancer with the highest incidence among men, and risk rises with age, especially after 50. The campaign will also include educational content on the team’s digital platforms about preventive checkups, early detection and breaking stigmas around men’s health.
