Puerto Rico will see afternoon showers and thunderstorms from Wednesday, November 4 through Friday, November 6, driven by weak southwest winds, according to the National Weather Service (NWS) forecast. Conditions will favor shower formation across the island’s interior during the afternoons, with the rain later moving toward eastern sectors, including the San Juan metropolitan area.
The NWS warned that some of these rains could move slowly, increasing the risk of heavy precipitation repeatedly falling over the same areas. As a result, urban flooding, water accumulation in small streams, and isolated flash flooding could occur. Beyond the heavy rain, thunderstorms could produce wind gusts and lightning strikes, so caution is recommended during outdoor activities.
The most active conditions are expected during afternoon hours, when daytime heating contributes to the development of showers and thunderstorms.
