Puerto Rico Governor Jenniffer González said on Friday, November 6, that she is evaluating the recent contracting controversies in her administration, including the contracts at the Department of the Family under Secretary Suzanne Roig and the recently canceled arrangement with Itza García at the Office of Management and Budget (OGP). Asked by the press, González said she is conducting a review of those processes with her work team, and that all agency heads are under evaluation.
whoever violated the laws "will bear their responsibility, whoever it may be."
She repeated that the Department of Justice and federal agencies are evaluating the matters, and that whoever violated the laws "will bear their responsibility, whoever it may be." Roig Fuertes remains under investigation by authorities, mainly over the process followed for a failed contract with NOLA Education at the Socioeconomic Development Administration of the Family (ADSEF).
Asked about the contract awarded to Itza García, former deputy secretary of the Governor’s Office, González said only that the contract was canceled. The unpaid contract was canceled after the Office of Government Ethics refused to allow OGP to grant the former official a contract of $150 per hour. González spoke during a visit to Vieques, where she and Vieques Mayor José "Junito" Corcino inaugurated the Monte Santo Resilient Community Center, rehabilitated through a $358,532 investment by the Office for Socioeconomic and Community Development (ODSEC).
She also announced an agreement between the municipality and the Integrated Transportation Authority (ATI) to advance improvements to the Mosquito dock and lay the groundwork for a shorter maritime route between Ceiba and Vieques.
