Dorado is a surf area on Puerto Rico's north coast, made up of both reef and sand-bottom breaks. Swell arrives from the north-northeast, typically running 2–5 ft, and the best season is November through March when winter swell reaches the open points. The more sheltered bays stay calmer, which makes them the better choice for beginners, and summer is generally mellower across the whole stretch.
