On the Water
Punta Las Marías / Ocean Park
Punta Las Marías / Ocean Park is San Juan's main kitesurfing launch, where riders rig their kites on the grass and walk onto a sandy beach to get on the water. The season runs December through April, when the trade winds are strongest, typically blowing 12–25 knots (14–29 mph) and often gusting. A long reef about half a mile offshore breaks in winter swell, so the spot also draws surfers. Marked swimming areas share the shoreline, and kiters need to keep clear of them.
