Monte Pirata

Monte Pirata, the highest mountain in Vieques, stands at 960 feet and is located within the Vieques National Wildlife Refuge. The mountain was previously open to hiking, with a trail leading to the summit, but has been closed to the public for 20 years. There are current efforts to revitalize and reopen the area, including the installation of an observation platform.
