Monte Pirata

Monte Pirata is the highest point on Vieques at 960 feet, rising within the Vieques National Wildlife Refuge. A trail once led hikers to its summit, but the route has been closed to the public for two decades. Efforts are now underway to revitalize the area and reopen access, including plans for an observation platform that would let visitors take in views over the island once the mountain is accessible again.
