Judge Alfrida Tomey Imbert of the San Juan Court determined on Monday that there was probable cause to arrest Amanda M. Rodríguez Rivera, 33, who was charged with sexually assaulting, committing lewd acts against, and abusing a 9-year-old child in San Juan. The Department of Justice reported that prosecutors filed two counts of sexual assault, one count of lewd acts, and one count of child abuse against Rodríguez Rivera.
According to an investigation led by the Police's Sex Crimes and Child Abuse Division, the alleged acts occurred between 2018 and 2019, when the victim was 9 years old. Judge Tomey Imbert found probable cause on all charges and set a global bail of $400,000. Rodríguez Rivera was unable to post bail and was taken into custody.
A preliminary hearing has been scheduled for July 28.
