Judge Rolando Matos Acevedo of the Aguadilla Tribunal determined probable cause for the arrest of 64-year-old Reynaldo Pérez Torres on charges of attempted murder and possession and use of a bladed weapon. Pérez Torres was ordered to pay a $60,000 bond.

The investigation found that on September 2, a discussion between Pérez Torres and 67-year-old José L. Vélez Hernández at the El Paraíso supermarket in San Sebastián escalated into a physical altercation, resulting in Pérez Torres allegedly using a knife to injure Vélez Hernández in the chest.

Pérez Torres was taken to the Las Cucharas Correctional Complex in Ponce until a preliminary hearing scheduled for September 18. The investigation was led by Agent Juan López Rivera of the Aguadilla CIC.
