Mayor Karina Nieves Serrano of Aguas Buenas publicly criticized the Puerto Rico Aqueduct and Sewer Authority (AAA), accusing it of a pattern of unfinished repair work and deteriorated roads following pipe interventions, with no effective response to the municipality's complaints. "The patience is over. Aguas Buenas is tired and so is this mayor," she said, adding that "if AAA breaks it, AAA has to fix it." She said crews arrive, tear up roads to work on pipes, and then leave the job half-done, calling the situation "unsustainable" after continuing for too long.
If the AAA breaks it, the AAA has to fix it.
Nieves Serrano said she has personally informed AAA's regional director of these problems on multiple occasions and has repeatedly tried to reach AAA president Luis González without receiving a response. She insisted no one at the utility can claim ignorance of the situation, since complaints were filed through proper channels and time was given for them to be addressed.
