Why this matters: For Puerto Rico, Camacho-Quinn’s return to the tracks in 2027 means a potential medal contender will be representing the island at the Pan American Games in Lima.

Olympic gold medalist Jasmine Camacho-Quinn reflected on motherhood in an Instagram post, sharing a photo with her daughter Jayla Sol in Trujillo Alto. Camacho-Quinn, who won bronze in the 100 meters hurdles at the 2024 Paris Games, is on the island for a family commitment. Her daughter was born on August 9 to Camacho-Quinn and NFL player Jaylon Carlies.

Camacho-Quinn, 30, wrote about learning to love her post-pregnancy body and embracing the changes it has undergone. She stated that her scar is a reminder of what her body was capable of and that she is taking time to love her new self. Camacho-Quinn confirmed to El Nuevo Día that she will return to the tracks in 2027, with the Pan American Games in Lima scheduled for July of that year. She last competed full-time in 2024, running 20 times in 17 competitions.
