Family Secretary Suzanne Roig is scheduled to appear before the Senate’s Family, Women, Seniors and Persons with Functional Diversity and Disabilities Committee at 1:00 PM to answer why she allegedly pushed two companies to be hired by the Family Socioeconomic Development Administration (ADSEF). She must explain an email she sent in December of last year inviting a bidder to take part in an auction.
She must also explain the makeup of the outside committee hired to award the contract to NOLA Education for its Star Academy educational services program, and why one alleged bidder says it never participated yet was evaluated after only submitting a services brochure. Blanca Medina Díaz, the dismissed ADSEF administrator, testifies first, at 10:00 AM. She went to the Office of the Inspector General on Monday and to the FBI the day before, and is summoned to the Department of Justice on Thursday at 9:30 AM, a source told El Nuevo Día.
Telemundo asked her about the FBI visit; she said she went as a witness and that it is confidential. El Nuevo Día confirmed that Coccoloba AgroEnvironmental, among the bidders evaluated in the 2025 auction, received an invitation to participate by an email Roig sent on December 30, 2025. Coccoloba’s owner, Christian Torres, had already said he did not ask to participate.
The contract was awarded to Star Academy on January 20, 2026, according to a letter signed by Roig.
