Legislature Week: 29 Measures Saw Action

Published Oct 23, 2026, 6:07 AM AST787daily · Original analysis

At a glance

  • Where the 30 tracked measures stand: 12 passed a chamber and 18 in committee
  • No tracked measure was enacted this week
  • The House carried most of the activity

Why this matters: Most measures never leave committee; the ones that reach a floor vote are the ones that can change daily life, and the tracker shows when they do.

Legislature tracker: every bill, where it stands

Nothing in the tracker became law or passed a chamber this week. 29 of the 30 tracked measures recorded some action during the week.

The measures that moved this week would touch everyday matters: Puerto Rico’s AutoExpreso electronic toll account (PC 1352, which would cut the fine for a low-balance toll infraction from fifteen dollars to five dollars), the rights of people who use service animals (PC 1409), and the rules for riding personal watercraft (PC 1266). Others dealt with housing, with investigations into abandoned properties (RS 252) and into the temporary lodging program for residents of Vieques and Culebra (RS 474). Several reached the Legislature’s special-orders calendars, the daily lists of measures ready for floor action, rather than the end of the process, so what residents saw were measures lined up for votes, not laws taking effect.

It was a week of work in progress, not of finish lines. No tracked measure was enacted, and 18 of the 30 tracked measures remain in committee against 12 that have passed a chamber. The House carried most of the activity, with 19 of the 29 actions against 10 for the Senate. By subject, Health and Oversight led with 5 measures each, followed by Housing and Visitors with 3 apiece, which fits a week heavy on investigations and on small amendments to existing laws.
