Political analyst Jay Fonseca compared how diesel and natural gas prices have changed since February 2026 and what that means for electric power generation in Puerto Rico. He spoke about the comparison on the program Los Datos Son Los Datos, amid the problems New Fortress Energy faces in bringing more natural gas to Puerto Rico.

A graph presented on the program shows that the price of diesel has risen 68%, while the price of natural gas has dropped 18.5%. The comparison comes as electric power generation goes through one of its highest-cost periods on the island.
