With Halloween falling this weekend, the executive director of the Administration of Medical Services of Puerto Rico (ASEM), Dr. Regino Colón Alsina, called on the public on Friday to act with prudence and responsibility to prevent accidents and protect health and safety. He urged people not to drive under the influence of alcohol, to respect traffic laws, stay alert for pedestrians, and supervise minors during recreational activities, while also recommending avoiding risky behaviors that could cause injuries requiring medical attention.
Colón Alsina also announced that ASEM will carry out a technological update of its information systems during the same weekend, as part of efforts to strengthen its digital infrastructure and cybersecurity, better protect patients’ private and sensitive information, and reinforce the reliability and security of institutional systems. Health Secretary Dr. Víctor Ramos reported that patient-directed services will not be affected and will continue operating normally during the process.
Colón Alsina repeated the call for caution given the works and Halloween weekend activities, noting ASEM’s commitment to guaranteeing continuity of services. For any emergency posing an immediate threat to life, the institution reminds the public to call the 9-1-1 Emergency System.
