Halloween weekend in Hatillo passed without any registered incidents, according to the town’s mayor, Carlos Román Román. The mayor credited an Executive Order he signed several weeks ago, which required businesses to close at midnight from Thursday through Sunday and prohibited the sale and dispensing of alcoholic beverages after that hour. He said the order was a key element in avoiding security incidents, along with a preventive plan that included patrols and monitoring of 13 security cameras placed throughout the town.
Román Román said he received the report after conversations with Municipal Police agents, and noted that working with clear objectives and constant coordination among Puerto Rico Police Bureau agents, Municipal Police agents, and merchants made it possible to reach the established goals. He said security and tranquility for the town is a core issue for his administration, so preventive measures are established to minimize emergency situations.
When he announced the order, the mayor said the measure sought to prevent situations that could put the lives and property of Hatillo residents and visitors at risk. He thanked Puerto Rico Police and Municipal Police agents, merchants, and the general public for their collaboration.
