The Baloncesto Superior Nacional (BSN) has confirmed that José Manuel Baeza, the apoderado of the Capitanes de Arecibo, is suspended from his duties due to an alleged domestic violence case. Baeza was detained on September 22, and the BSN activated its protocol for handling domestic violence and gender cases. Luis 'Gaby' Miranda, the team's general manager, will serve as the team's delegate to the league while Baeza is unable to attend meetings and perform his duties as apoderado.

Miranda stated that the team's operations have continued normally, and Baeza is presumed innocent until his case is resolved. Baeza is a well-known entrepreneur and president of the Puerto Rican company Teselta. The BSN president, Ricardo Dalmau, confirmed that Baeza is suspended from his duties until his status is determined in court. The team has announced Larry Ayuso as its new manager for the 2027 season.
