The National Meteorological Service has reported a high risk of forest fires in the southern coastal area of Puerto Rico during the long weekend. High concentrations of Sahara dust will affect Puerto Rico, and the environment will remain hot and humid throughout the day. Temperatures will remain above normal until Monday, increasing the risk of heat exhaustion and heat stroke, especially for those who stay outdoors for extended periods.
The typical summer pattern will continue from today until Monday, with easterly winds bringing brief showers during the early morning and morning hours over eastern Puerto Rico. Isolated showers may develop over the interior and western Puerto Rico in the afternoon. The Sahara dust will also help keep nights warmer than usual.
For today, scattered showers are expected, mainly after noon, with a high temperature near 90 degrees and a 30% chance of rain. Tonight, isolated showers are expected before 9:00 PM and again after midnight, with a low temperature near 79 degrees and a 20% chance of rain.
