Luis González Delgado, executive president of the Autoridad de Acueductos y Alcantarillados (AAA), rejected the idea of an 'impasse' with the San Juan Municipality, stating that the controversy is due to differing priorities on how to utilize the public corporation's brigades during the drought and decreasing water level in the Carraízo reservoir. While the municipal administration requests personnel to inspect and operate valves, González Delgado emphasized that the AAA's priority is to repair water outlets, conserve raw water, and extend the reservoir's lifespan.
The AAA has requested a deadline of August 4 to present its position to the court, and Judge Anthony Cuevas Ramos has scheduled a hearing for August 7. González Delgado claimed that the AAA sent a brigade to drain water-filled valve boxes and verify equipment, but municipal representatives did not attend.
The AAA prioritizes repairing water leaks and conserving water during the drought, with González Delgado stating that this is a citizen's demand, especially during times of drought.
