The Carraízo reservoir in Trujillo Alto, along with the Cidra, Carite, and Loco reservoirs, began the day under observation due to low water levels, according to the Autoridad de Acueductos y Alcantarillados (AAA). The AAA reported that 14 of the 19 monitored reservoirs showed a decrease in water level over the past day, while four increased and one remained unchanged. The Carraízo reservoir, which serves approximately 179,387 customers in San Juan, Trujillo Alto, Carolina, Canóvanas, and Gurabo, had a water level of 39.62 meters above sea level, a decrease of 0.06 meters from the previous day.
The Cidra reservoir, which supplies around 14,537 customers, had a water level of 400.63 meters above sea level, a decrease of 0.02 meters. The Carite reservoir, managed by the Autoridad de Energía Eléctrica (AEE), had a water level of 538.59 meters above sea level, a decrease of 3.85 meters. The Loco reservoir in Yauco also fell under observation, with a water level of 69.48 meters above sea level, a decrease of 0.47 meters.
These decreases come as 34.96% of Puerto Rico is experiencing moderate drought, an increase from 17.56% the previous week.
