Barranquitas is a small mountain town in the Cordillera Central region of Puerto Rico, about 23 miles inland from San Juan. It sits south of Corozal and Naranjito, north of Coamo and Aibonito, west of Comerío and Cidra, and east of Orocovis, spread across six barrios plus Barranquitas Pueblo, and is part of the San Juan-Caguas-Guaynabo Metropolitan Statistical Area.
Founded in 1803, the municipality covers about 86.01 km² and has a population of roughly 28,983. Its cultural landmarks include the Biblioteca Museo Casa Natal de Luis Muñoz Rivera and the Museo de Bellas Artes, both tied to the town's historical and artistic heritage.
