The president of the Puerto Rico Aqueduct and Sewer Authority (AAA), Luis González, said the La Plata reservoir’s water levels should improve soon with expected rains. Speaking on Pega’os en la Mañana, González said heat alerts over the past weekend increased residents’ water consumption, pushing the reservoir down more than expected. He said that as the weather pattern, which was more from the southeast according to meteorologists, changes, the agency hopes to slow the reservoir’s decline and keep working between operational adjustments and responsible water use to extend the reservoir’s useful life.
