October is a light month for patron-saint fiestas, with 7 municipios sharing 5 feast days. The most crowded date is October 7, when Naguabo, Vega Baja and Yauco all honor Our Lady of the Rosary, so anyone choosing among them will have to pick one. The other feasts are spread out: Yabucoa on October 2, Aguada on October 4, Canóvanas on October 12 and Quebradillas on October 24. Feast dates are the saint’s day, but celebrations usually run the surrounding days, and towns tend to move the biggest nights to the nearest weekend.
The news adds 8 events, 11 dates counting repeat performances, and five of them are in San Juan, which gives the capital its own calendar next to the town plazas. The month opens on October 1 and 2, a Thursday and Friday, when Omar Courtz plays the Coliseo and Yabucoa begins its feast. Theater fills the middle, with Drácula running October 16 to 18, and the month closes on October 24, when La Pro Fan Fest lands on the same day as Quebradillas honors Saint Raphael Archangel. Looking ahead, November opens with Saint Charles Borromeo on November 4 in Aguadilla.
