Cabo Rojo is a city and municipality on the southwest coast of Puerto Rico, in the island's West region, about 73 miles from San Juan. It forms part of the San Germán–Cabo Rojo metropolitan area and the larger Mayagüez–San Germán–Cabo Rojo Combined Statistical Area, with a population of approximately 47,158 as of 2020.
Founded in 1771, the municipality's coastal setting shapes much of its character, from the on-water area around Buyé–El Combate to the beach at Playa Los Pozos. Inland and along the coast, spots such as Túnel Guaniquilla for outdoor exploration and Los Remos for food and drink round out what the area offers.

Cabo Rojo / Buyé–El Combate is located in southwest Puerto Rico and offers on-water activities. It features consistent trade-wind kiting at Buyé and El Combate beaches, as well as clear shallow flats and offshore reefs for snorkeling and beginner diving. The area is suitable for kite and dive activities, with southeast to east trades of 15–25 kt and visibility of 40–70 ft on reefs. The best time for kiting is from December to April, while snorkeling is available year-round.
